Don’t get us wrong, we aren’t saying these races are easy. Running a race “off of the couch” is never advisable; not by your doctor, your race timer, nor by anyone who has ever done it. But, don’t let under-training become your excuse to avoid registering for these upcoming spring races. While every race offers its own challenge, each of these races has a great ambiance that will set a high bar and provide the motivation you need to get off the couch and run more races this summer.
After reviewing all of our upcoming events, we’ve determined some of the best for those of you whose lackluster training program this winter hasn’t set you up for any PRs this spring. But, if you are still looking to head out, have a great time and support a great cause, here are some races for you this spring.
1. Montana Warrior Run, Helena, MT 4/19
Options are the name of the game here. The event offers a 10K, 5K, one-mile and the Trifecta which combines all three events. Here is our advice: register now for the Trifecta and if you don’t log as many miles as you intended in the next few weeks, you can always change your division on race day. You still get a race t-shirt, you still support Montanans in the military and you still got out and raced a mile while most people were raking grass in their lawns. That is what we call a win-win!
2. Suit Yourself Fun Run, Kalispell, MT, 4/27
Flat and fast course…and if we didn’t have you at that…it’s all on pavement. BOOM! You might just set a PR without training a single day. Probably not, but you will have fun, you can dress up and you will be supporting the Glacier High School Speech and Debate Club
3.Montana Women’s Run, Billings, MT 5/10
We know this race will provide a supportive atmosphere no matter what your pace. Group training programs have just began, so even if you start training now, you will only be a few weeks behind the other women training. Check out training programs and/or find your motivation on their website- it is full of great resources.
So, whether it’s bragging rights, a fast course or a supportive environment that will motivate you to get off the couch and into a race this spring, we look forward to seeing you at one of our events.
